Well my lovelies, the observant among you might have noticed that I haven’t been here in blogland in a long, long, l-o-n-g time. I have decided to close my blog; for a number of reasons which all make a lot of sense to me. When I close my blog, hopefully, it won’t disappear, so you’ll be able to look back at my journey. I not stopping crocheting, makings, workshopping or designing, and you will still be able to follow my journey: I really hope you will.
Ok, so this post is going to be similar to the post I wrote you this time last year, and the year before and the year before and the year before! I’m not going to apologise: I just love, LOVE, L-O-V-E September. September, for me is the very best of all the months: there is still a hint of Summer in the air, but there is a twang of Autumn with cool mornings and dew on the ground. It is in September when Mother Nature buts on her very best show, the changing colours of the trees and the decaying seed heads that exploded like fireworks all over the garden. I thought I’d share some of those fireworks with you…

I’VE FINISHED MY CROCHET BLANKET! Yes, I am shouting. Yes, I am jumping around the house feeling, somewhat pleased with myself. It seems like ages and ages since I started crocheting my blanket: oh I was ages ago (back in 2013), when I first crocheted that l-o-n-g foundation chain!
My crochet blanket is most definitely a Lucy blanket, using her colour pallet. Crocheting using someone else’s colour pallet has been a rally interesting experience. Lucy’s colours, and not really my colours: Lucy’s colours tend to be from Spring and Summer, whereas mine are very much Autumnal.
So why crochet with Lucy’s colours? Good question. I think that it is good to move outside of your element occasional and try something new. Lucy is a real inspiration, and the way she uses and blends colour is just fabulous, so why not. Crocheting using different colours, I have learnt A LOT: about how colours complement and contrast with each other and about how colours blend together and shout against each other. Most of all I’ve really enjoyed crocheting it! Want to see it? Ok here you are…

Are you having a lovely holiday? I really hope that you all are. This morning I have, indulgently, been browsing my own blog: I do this occasionally, so I don’t repeat myself (sorry if you feel I do) but as a way of celebrating all the makes and shares that I have posted. I love to craft (especially crochet) but I love sharing with you all even more. I think that it is really important to look back, celebrate and learn before going forward. I would highly recommend that you do this. I think that lots of people tend to do this naturally at this time of year, as one year ends and we start the New Year full of promises and resolution. I’m not big on New Year resolutions, unusually for me I made three last year: I am very happy to report that I kept two out of the three. The third wasn’t kept, but not from my lack of trying – it just wasn’t meant to be: I certainly won’t be beating myself over this! So here’s my look back over some of my 2014 highlights. Here’s to 2015. See you next year!

Are you feeling Christmassy yet? I am. For me Christmas really started last night. Si and me went to see the fabulous Kate Rusby sing Christmas songs. We go most years and are always in for a real treat. I think that Kate’s traditional version of While Shepherds Watched to the tune of On Ilkla MoorBaht 'at, is just genius! I woke up singing Sweet Bells: yes, Christmas is definitely here! The backdrop to Kate’s stage, was a-maz-ing: giant crocheted snowflakes. My giant snowflakes, I mean GIANT – some must have been at least 5ft! They really put my teeny-tiny snowflakes to shame! Kate said they were crochets my the incredibly talented Cloud Nine Decor have a look at her crochet, it’s brilliant!
I thought that I’d share with you my Winter wreath, it was going to be my Christmas wreath: but it is sooooo cute just to have hung for a short time! The wealth is an accumulation of crochet from the past weeks and years…
It’s finally finished! It was meant to be finished for the start of Autumn, life got in the way, but it is now finally finished. I can’t quite believe the effort that has gone into it. There are around sixty-four separate crocheted pieces in total: I say around sixty-four, because I kept loosing count! So, would you like to see it? Here you are…

Tomorrow, 1st August, is a very great day. It is a day to don-on your flat-cap, bake Yorkshire Puddings, sing On Ilkla Moor bar tat and celebrate all things Yorkshire. Tomorrow is Yorkshire Day. I honour of this great day: and this very great county, I’ve crocheted myself a Yorkshire Rose…
I want to share the pattern with you: so you can crochet yourself a Yorkshire Rose and wear it with pride.
You’ll need some white and yellow yarn (I’m using DK), two crochet hooks of different sizes (I’m using a 4mm and 3mm), a darning needle, scissors, scrap of felt and a brooch back. Ready?
Into a slip-ring, 1ch (to secure), 6dc, ss to join…
1ch, 1dc in same place as ss, *2dc in next dc,* repeat *-*, ss to join…
1ch, 1dc in same place as ss, *2dc in next dc,* repeat *-*, ss to join…
**4ch, 1dtr in same place as ss, 1dtr in next dc, 1tr in next dc, 1dtr in next dc, 1dtr in next dc, 4ch, ss into base of dtr, ss into next dc**…
Repeat **-** until you have five rose petals, finish off and weave in the ends…
Crochet a second rose, using the same pattern, but with smaller hook…
Layer the two roses on top of each other, securing together using the yellow yarn and small French knots…
Stitch a brooch back onto a small circle of felt, then glue this to the back of the rose…
Wear with pride (even if you’re not from Yorkshire)...
