inspiration from the knitting show...

Like I mentioned in my last post  I would share some of the most inspirational things that I saw at the Knitting Show.  Here goes...

This amazing Christmas Tree was knitted and crocheted by over 700 people, as a fund raising project  for Livability a charity which supports disabled people, offering them a choice about how they live their lives.

Katie Jones won first prize for her entry into the Hand Knitting Association...

It is fantastic to see crochet been used in this way: and holding its own along side knitting!

The world turns to November, it is time to put the garden to bed. The jasmine has been cut within an inch of it's life, the pots have been emptied and the decaying summer plants are returning to the Earth.  Some planets are coming into their element.

One of my very favourite things is to open the curtains and see the cheerfulness of brightly coloured cyclamens early on a morning...

I love the way they are all twisted until they are ready to show themselves to the world...

The garden this time of year always looks better having winter-flowering pansies...

Now that November is here, I feel justified in getting on with my Christmas crochet projects: I can't wait any-longer...

hello October...

October!  How did that happen?  I don't feel like I am done with September, yet I find myself turning the calendar.  Still the beautiful sun-shine does help.  Who would have thought on the first weekend of October we would be sat out in the garden having afternoon tea...

 
I made some of my very favourite oaty, chewy biscuits and settled down with a cup of tea and hook in hand ready to complete , yes complete, some of those unfinished crochet projects that I need to get done.  Aim by the end of today is...

• finish the house gift for my friend before she moves into said home
• join together as many hexagons of my blanket as possible
• may be start, or think about starting, some of the other projects I had in mind...

Here's to crochet, to sun-shine and to October...

happy September...

I love, love, love September!  In fact I love all of the months that end with a ...ber.  But I do think September is my favourite.

I love that there is a hint of Autumn in the air, that mornings and evenings have a chill to them, but the days are warm with the fading Summer sun. 

I love that there is still the possibility of an Indian Summer, to take us to the dark nights and short days, 

I love that the leaves on the trees are beginning to dry and show us their beautiful hues of red, brown and gold. 

 
I love that when you are out in the country-side you can smell the earth, ploughed ready for next year's crops. 

I love the fact that you can still smell freshly cut grass, as the optimistic gardener prepares to rest.

I love that we can think about apple crumbles, fireworks, blankets and scarfs.

It is safe to say I am an Autumnal girl, who LOVES September.
