August bank holiday weekend and look what I have been wearing...
Yes, that's right - my crochet hat. Along with a pair of flowery wellie-boots: only now you can't see the flowers because they are sooo covered in mud. I have been a-festivaling, so no time for new crochet.
I am going to spent a delightful afternoon working on my blanket (let's face it, it is the prefect weather for blanket making) - so should be more crochet very soon.

I thought that I would share with you one of my very favourite crochet books...
As the photo tells the book is 100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet by the very talented Lesley Stanfield. This is one of my most well used crochet books as the damage to the spine will testify for.
The book is (as the title suggests) dedicated to both knitting and crocheting: it is split into the two sections, with equal time spent on each craft. This can be a rarity - as crochet so often made to feel like knitting's poor relation. Not in this book.
I can't really comment on the knitting sections (I can knit - just choose not to, in favour of the flexibility and freedom of crochet), but the crochet section is FANTASTIC. It is even themed into basic, intermediate and advance patterns, so there is truly something for all. The patterns are charted, for those of us who prefer not to read: as crochet patterns can be scarily wordy in places. The results are always, as the worked-up photographs show. Perfect!
This book should take pride of place on the bookshelves of all knitters and crocheters.
For some reason (not entirely sure what) I haven't spent much time with my hook, over the last few days.
Perhaps it was the lure of new season apples and all that they bring: like apple and cinnamon cake...

Remember the blanket which I started making? I thought I'd share my progress with you.
I think that it is going rather well, and so far I haven't lost my motivation for the project.
I should explain that sometimes my motivation for crocheting large things (never for crochet itself) does waiver, with the delights of a new project.
But so far so good!
I think I need to make 32 of the white and green hexagons, just 10 of the purple, white and green hexagons and 22 green and a colour yet to be decided upon hexagons.
Will keep you up-dated...
I decided I needed a little treat, who doesn't from time-to-time, so I bought myself this...
It is brought to us by Angel Adorre from the Vintage Patisserie and I really do think that this should be on everyone's bookshelf.
The book is full of inspirational ideas for (you guessed it) hosting your own tea party. Many of the ideas will work outside the tea-party and soon become part of everyday life. Or at least they will in thishousehold. From delicious recipes, to how to do your hair (this might take some doing) there really is something in this book for everyone and every occasion.
Now I wonder, is it too early for a Tea Tini..?
Can someone just remind me: it is August? It is still summer? So why is it sooooooooo wet and horrid outside?

I love the colour combinations that nature gives us. So very vibrant. Perfect inspriation for choosing the colours of yarn to crochet with.
Back to crocheting my blanket. Looks like I might be needing it sooner than I was anticipating!
The other day I paid a visit to the Breezy Knees Garden.
The garden is amazing: well worth a visit. It is full of different areas to explore and lots in inspiration for creating crochet flowers and colour combinations.

What better thing to do during one of the hottest weeks of the year: than start making a blanket...
The pattern is taken from Melody Griffiths book Crocheted Throws and Wraps.
The way I think is by the time I have made all the individual parts of the blanket it will be winter. So making it up in winter will keep me warm.
See there is logic in there some where!?!
