Hello! So here goes my very first ever blog post...
Spring a time for new beginning, new starts. So here it is my new blog. I am Helen and I am a happy hooker.
I want to keep a record of my crochet. I want to share my crochet. I love crochet. I love the variety of the stitches. I love that you can finish a project in ten minutes or keep one going for ten years. I love other craft to, but not quite as much as crochet.
I started to crochet when I was nine years old. Pre-national curriculum was a wonderful time to be at school. I went to a wonderful school. Our headteacher was very much into saving the world. We campaigned to save the rainforest, guidedogs and donkeys. One term we were to save the street children of Calcutta, where Mother Teresa worked. We were to raise money. We were to keep the homeless warm on cold nights. Keep them warm through crochet blankets. So I learnt to crochet the granny square. And boy did we get good at the granny square.
Now I admit it took a while for me to pick my crochet hook up again. Halloween 2009. I signed my self up for crochet for beginners. I wasn’t a beginner: it all came back to me. By February I was signed up for the advanced crochet. Now I am not advanced. That was the name of the course. Thank you Katie at Ramshambles http://www.ramshambles.co.uk for putting up with the fact that I can’t count rows or stitches. Thank you for putting up with the fact that following patterns is not one of my strong points. I am more a freeform crocheting kind-of gal.
I fell back in love with crochet.
Ok, here goes…here is some crocheting! Hope you like it?
